2020 - Present
Nostalgia Strikethrough is a series of Baroque inflected landscapes that are divided by hotly colored timber beams with punk fliers, municipal signage, literary and philosophical title pages swirling around them. They’re about puzzlement, legibility, metadata and the attention economy. Also jokes and some loveliness.

Sourced from the stuff that my algorithm surfaces to me, these paintings are absurdly opulent interiors loaded with humorous and biting contradictions relating to art, luxury branding, consumerism, and their environmental impacts.

2016-2020
This series enlists architecture and interior design advertising as a framework for situating art historical references, textile designs, punk rock fliers and cultural ephemera. In these paintings Mondrian inspired window lites and Anne Truitt pillar candles appear with Minor Threat fliers and Nest thermostats in order to create absurdly opulent, yet spatially disjointed, interior and exterior spaces.

2014-2016
This series of paintings uses architecture as a stand-in for the stratification and overwriting of place. These paintings marry cuteness and menace in their formal explorations of how space gets cannibalized at the same time that it memorializes what was removed.

Topocosm uses theologian T.H. Gaster’s concept of a “topocosm” - a locality containing a complex of beliefs, histories, weather and topography as a springboard for paintings that work to describe the sensation of visual culture with its contemporaneity and overlapping narratives.
